A company is a record
It starts as a row, from the name alone, just like a student. Invoicing data - tax number, address, contact person - is filled in the cell when it is needed.
Half of the courses in a language school are not bought by the student but by their employer: ten people from one company, one invoice, one contact in the HR office.
It starts as a row, from the name alone, just like a student. Invoicing data - tax number, address, contact person - is filled in the cell when it is needed.
In Companies the "Students" cell picks people, in Students the "Companies" cell picks organizations, and underneath both there is one linking table.
The same company sends ten people, and one person is sometimes paid for by two entities, or changes employer halfway through the course.
The company roster opens in details with the same "Add student" dialog as the group panel: the cell is meant for one person, the panel for ten.
An archived company takes no room in the limit: it counts how many clients a school serves, not how many it remembers from earlier years.
A module is a permission, and which records may be touched is settled on write, not in the menu.
| Role | Sees | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Every company of the school, with its roster and invoicing data. | Creates, edits in the cell, archives, deletes and links students. |
| Methodologist | The same as the owner: the module comes by default. | The same as the owner. |
| Teacher | Nothing until the school grants the module; once granted, the whole list. | Nothing, even once granted: the matrix gives read only on this record. |
| Student | No access to this screen. | Nothing. |
The things that only surface in the third week of working with the module.
With the panel under the row. The “Details” action unfolds the company roster, and the button next to it opens the same “Add student” dialog the group panel uses - with a search box and the list of people not yet attached. Unlinking is a cross next to the name. The “Students” cell in the table stays for a single person, because ten are not typed into a picker.
Yes, and it is not an edge case: a company and its foundation split the cost of a course, and people change employers halfway through a term. Underneath there is a linking table rather than a column on the student, so both companies stand as equals and both see that person in their roster.
Not against its check digit. The tax number is a string capped at thirty-two characters, because schools also enter foreign numbers, temporary ones, or ones with dashes. Refusing a save over a check digit would stop the front desk, and the number ends up on an invoice this module does not issue anyway.
So that it can be a PARTY to a student contract. The contact person is whoever you call about the course; the signatory is whoever signs - in an HR office these are often the same person, on a board almost never. Both fields go into the contract text through placeholders, along with the registry number and the address.
They stay. The cascade removes the link, not the people - and the same holds the other way, when a student is deleted. A company that is the payer of a plan or of a charge in Finance will not delete at all: it comes back as a 409 and archiving is what is left. Archiving is the default road here anyway, because it breaks nothing.
Only if the school grants them the module, and then for reading only: creating, editing and deleting companies belong to the owner and the methodologist. By default a teacher does not have the module, because this is a client's commercial data - tax number, contact person, terms. A student never gets it by any route.
Twenty on Pro and sixty on the School plan, as a hard cap - above it creating refuses rather than recording an overage. Only ACTIVE companies count: an archived one stays as history and takes no room. Links do not count at all, so a company with ten students is still one record.
No. This module keeps the DATA for an invoice, not invoices: numbering, VAT and tax filings stay in the school's accounting software. Finance has a field on a payment for that document's number so the two can be reconciled. Student contracts are a separate module, and that is where a company becomes a party to a document.
