A class register built for the teacher
The teacher opens the register and sees their own groups, each with its next lesson, so there is nothing to hunt for. Attendance, topic, grades and homework go in after their own lessons, from a phone browser. A group they cover arrives 14 days before the cover and stays 7 days after.
What the teacher has to hand
Eight things a teacher does around a lesson. Each one is saved where the school office, the student and the parent will see it.
Attendance
Four states from the menu next to each student, lateness in minutes and a note on any state, such as “traffic”. No entry means “not taken”, not absent.
Module: JournalTopic and coursebook unit
Next to the topic you pick the coursebook unit the lesson covered. “Where we are” comes from one function over the latest lessons held, so a cover teacher sees what you see.
Module: Course programmeHomework
A task with a due date and an attachment: a file from E-learning or a link. A counter shows how many are still unmarked, and 30 days after the due date a task moves to the archive by itself.
Module: JournalGrades in a grid
A column is a lesson, a category and a “for what” title typed once for the group. “Give everyone” fills the column, and a cell saves when you leave it.
Module: JournalCover and cancellations
A cover teacher records attendance, topic and grades in the panel of their own lesson, even in someone else’s group. Lessons are cancelled from the Lessons tab, and “delivered” is an explicit mark, not a clock.
Module: ScheduleGroup vocabulary
Word sets belong to the group and reviews belong to the student, with intervals worked out for each one. Words can be pasted from text, with the pairs shown before saving.
Module: VocabularyExercises into the register
Eleven exercise types marked against a key. “Add to register” suggests a grade from the score, and the teacher saves it in one click.
Module: ExercisesBell and reminders
A notification 15 minutes before each lesson, and in the same bell: messages, chat, announcements and any observation the school office shares.
Module: DashboardOne lesson, from walking in to walking out
This is the register in the hands of a teacher with a phone and ten minutes between groups.

Open the register
Your groups on the left, each with its next lesson and anything happening today.
-
Open the lesson
The lesson panel shows who is in the group and flags what is missing: attendance, topic, homework to mark.
-
Take attendance
A state from the menu next to each student, minutes late, a note when needed.
-
Topic and unit
Type the topic and pick the coursebook unit you got through.
-
Grades and homework
A grade column with a “for what” title, and a task with a due date pinned to this lesson.
-
Mark it delivered
Students and parents with an account get a notification straight away, and one summary email after 15 quiet minutes.
A teacher writes only on their own lessons: they cannot hand a lesson to someone else or grade a student who is not in their lesson. Other groups stay out of sight, apart from those they cover, within the cover window.
What the teacher does, and what the office does
The line is drawn on the server, not by hiding a button: whatever a teacher cannot do, the screen does not offer.
What the teacher does alone
- Attendance, topic, grades, remarks and homework on their own lessons
- Corrections to attendance and grades after the lesson, with a record of who changed them
- Cancelling their own lessons and marking them delivered
- The coursebook unit on their own lessons
- Vocabulary and exercises for their own groups, with scores into the register
- Reading an observation the school office has shared with them
What stays with the school office
- Who teaches each group, and moving a lesson to another teacher
- Creating groups, archiving them and managing who is in them
- The observation sheet, until it is shared
- Staff contracts, rate cards and pay settlements
- Switching register emails on or off for the whole school
Who sees what
Teachers, management, students and parents look at the same register, but each sees their own part. The server enforces the boundary on every save, not a hidden button in the menu.
| Role | Sees | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher | Their own groups, the students in them, and the courses, materials, exercises and vocabulary for those groups. | Attendance, topic, unit, grades, remarks and homework, on their own lessons only. |
| Cover teacher | The covered group from 14 days before to 7 days after, labelled “Cover until”, with the same “where we are” in the course. | Attendance, topic and grades in the panel of their own lesson. The group’s other tabs are read-only. |
| Academic director | The register of every group in the school, observations and criterion averages per teacher. | Courses, observation sheets and sharing them with the teacher, entries in any group. |
| Management | The whole school: every group, every lesson and every teacher. | Who teaches each group, cover, archives, staff pay and contracts, register emails. |
Questions about the register
Short answers, no overpromising. What the register does not do is listed alongside.
- A teacher cannot move a lesson to another teacher: cover is set by the school office.
- An excused absence is an attendance state, not a note from a parent with text and a date.
- There is no app in the App Store or Google Play yet; the register runs in a phone browser.
Yes. The register runs in a phone browser and is designed from a width of 390 px. Attendance, topic, grades and homework all fit in the panel of a single lesson.
The school office names you as the teacher for that lesson, and the group appears for you labelled “Cover until”, from 14 days before to 7 days after. You record attendance, topic and grades in the panel of your lesson and see the same course progress as the regular teacher.
No. A teacher sees the groups they are assigned to, plus any group they cover, within the cover window only. The school office and reception see the whole school.
No. A grade, a remark or a new absence sends students and parents with an account a notification straight away, and the email comes as one summary once nothing new has been added for 15 minutes. An attendance note sends neither.
Yes, on your own lessons. Changing a student to absent or late sends them and their parents a notification. A lesson with attendance, grades or a “delivered” mark cannot be deleted; it is cancelled instead.
Pay settlements work out the monthly amount from lessons held, using the teacher’s contract and rate card, so what you teach in the register feeds the calculation. The school office calculates and closes them, and teachers cannot see their own settlement in the panel yet.
More about the class register
The same register described from the side of the teacher, the parent, attendance, and a comparison with a state school register.
An electronic class register for language schools
Teachers keep the register after their own lessons: attendance, the topic with its syllabus unit, grades and homework, from a phone too. Students and parents see their entries in their own accounts. The register is part of the school system, next to the timetable and payments, at no extra charge.
A class register for parents and students
Parents get an account from the school’s email and, once signed in, see their own children, each one separately: attendance, grades, remarks, homework, payments and messages. Students have a register of their own. Nothing to install: the panel works in the phone’s browser.
Attendance, grades and lesson topics in one grid
The attendance register in Cerium is a student × lesson grid: four attendance states with lateness in minutes and a note, grades by category on the school’s own scale, and a topic for every lesson. The server works out attendance and averages with one formula, so the Journal, the student’s details and the parent report all show the same numbers.
A language school register is not a school e-register
A language school runs groups instead of classes, levels instead of year groups and enrolment all year round. It teaches children and adults, gets paid by parents, learners and companies, and its teachers work on contracts. A school e-register knows none of this. A language school register is one part of a system that runs all of it.
