Criteria are a school catalogue
One list for the whole team, always on a 1 to 5 scale. Two observations of the same person only compare when they talk about the same things; a criterion taken off the list stays with the old sheets.
The methodologist walks into a lesson with a sheet of paper, a week later the paper is in a drawer and the teacher remembers one sentence from the talk. Observations are where that visit stays and can be revisited a year later.
One list for the whole team, always on a 1 to 5 scale. Two observations of the same person only compare when they talk about the same things; a criterion taken off the list stays with the old sheets.
A score and a comment per criterion, plus strengths, things to improve and goals for next time. The average is computed from what was entered.
Until the click, the sheet is a management draft and nobody else sees it. After the click the teacher keeps it for good and gets a notification in the panel.
And only their own shared sheets, read only. Somebody else's sheet does not open by any route, not even when the school grants the module by hand.
How many observations each person had and what the average of each criterion is. The database counts it, so the number above the table and the number in the sheet always agree.
A module is a permission, and which records may be touched is settled on write, not in the menu.
| Role | Sees | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Every observation in the school, drafts and shared ones, the criteria catalogue and the Overview. | Everything: plans, scores, shares with the teacher, edits criteria and deletes. |
| Methodologist | The same as the owner: the module is theirs by default, observing is their job. | The same as the owner. That is why whoever should observe gets the methodologist role. |
| Teacher | “My observations”: only sheets about themselves, and only once they are shared. | Nothing. The sheet has no writing control for them, even after a manual grant. |
| Front desk | No access to this screen. A sheet assesses a teacher and the front desk is no party to it. | Nothing. The module cannot be granted to them, it would have nothing to open. |
The things that only surface in the third week of working with the module.
Only once the observer clicks “Share with the teacher”. Until then the sheet is a management draft and the teacher cannot even tell it exists: an unshared sheet and a missing one give them the same answer. After the click the teacher gets a notification in the panel and keeps the sheet for good. There is no button that takes it back.
Yes. Management can still save scores, comments and the three text fields, and the teacher always reads the current version. The panel notification comes only with the first share, so a correction does not ping the teacher again. The “Scheduled” or “Held” state changes independently of sharing.
From the school catalogue. A new school gets eight starting criteria, from lesson preparation to classroom atmosphere, and reshapes them in the “Criteria” drawer. The list is saved as a whole, holds at most thirty criteria, and the scale is always 1 to 5. A criterion taken off the list after it was scored on a sheet goes to the archive and stays with the old observations.
The owner and the methodologist. A teacher only reads sheets about themselves, and a manual module grant does not change that, because assessing a colleague is not a task to hand over. Whoever should observe gets the methodologist role. Nobody observes themselves: the planning window leaves the observer off the teacher list and the API rejects such a record.
No. The “Schedule an observation” window suggests that person's lessons from the next 14 days and the groups they teach, but a day and a time are enough. Picking a lesson sets the observation time to its start. The lesson has to belong to the observed teacher, since the sheet describes their work, not somebody else's lesson the observer happened to walk into.
200 on the Pro plan and 600 on the School plan, and the limit is hard: once it is used up, planning another one is refused. Every observation in the school counts, planned and done, from all years. There is no archive, since an observation is a dated event, so only deleting frees a place, and deleting takes the scores with it. Criteria have no limit of their own.
They stay. The teacher and the observer are also stored by name at planning time, so after the person is removed from the team the sheet still says who it was about. Lessons work the same way: a deleted lesson drops the link, and the group name stays on the sheet.
No. The module is closed to students and guardians and cannot be granted to them, because the permission matrix opens observations to them for no action at all. An observation carries no student data either: it points to a lesson, while attendance and grades stay in the Journal. Parent and student feedback on a teacher is collected by the Staff evaluation module.
