Settlements

Contracts say what a person earns and on what basis. Settlements say what they are owed for September: line by line, with the reason standing next to every amount.

What this module does

4
states a period can be in on the list
3
line kinds: lesson, monthly fee, allowance
4
allowance units: lesson, day, month, once
0
limits: nobody caps months in a year

Every line says why

Each amount carries the lesson label and the rung it came from: "price list: 45 min, 4-6 students". A lesson covered by a flat fee enters at zero, not missing.

Closed means frozen

An open month is computed live and follows the contract; once closed the amounts sit in the database and no new rate or corrected typo can move them again.

No closing over a guess

A lesson that cannot be priced - no contract that day, or two that fit - blocks the closing. Such a line shows in red and says what exactly is missing.

Everyone who teaches is listed

Including a person with no contract and not a single lesson: a missing contract has to be visible, because that is the one worth knowing about in time.

Whole month, one click

Bulk closing skips blocked and empty periods instead of tripping over them, and reports how many it skipped. Reopening asks with a second click.

Who sees what

A module is a permission, and which records may be touched is settled on write, not in the menu.

RoleSeesChanges
OwnerThe whole school month, on both tracks, with every person's lines.Closes and reopens a period: one person, or the whole month in one click.
MethodologistNothing until the owner grants the module: team amounts come by grant.Once granted, the same as the owner. Without it the screen is not in the menu.
TeacherNo access to this screen, not even to their own amount.Nothing. Their own rate is read from their own contract, in Contracts.
StudentNo access to this screen.Nothing.

The details nobody asks about during a demo

The things that only surface in the third week of working with the module.

What this module does not do
  • manually added lines - a bonus or a deduction cannot be derived from a contract
  • a printout or a file - a settlement is a screen today, PDF and CSV are a later step
  • paid cancellations - a cancelled lesson does not pay, even if called off an hour before
  • periods other than a calendar month, because that is how pay and questions work

While the month is open - yes, and that is the point: amounts are computed live from contracts and lessons, so a corrected rate shows at once. Closing writes the lines and the total into the database together with the label and the reason, and from then on neither a new price list nor an amendment moves them. Reopening does not thaw the numbers, it deletes them: a period is reopened because they were wrong.

The line sits in the drawer in red and says what is missing: a contract covering that day, a choice between two that fit, or a teacher assigned to the lesson. The “Close period” button next to it is disabled rather than “asking with a second click” - this is not a risky action, it is an impossible one. It gets fixed in Contracts, not here.

One. “Close month” in the bar closes everything that can be closed, skips blocked people and empty periods instead of tripping over them, and reports in the toast how many it skipped. A repeat is stopped by a time gate in the API: one minute, because that is how long reading the result takes. It always closes the narrow scope, even when the “Whole team” track is on screen.

Every line carries a label (“English B1 · 14.09 · 45 min · 5 students”) and a reason (“price list: 45 min, 4-6 students”). Both freeze as plain text next to the amount, because built from today's data they would show September's amount with today's price list. The pricing itself is settled by the ladder in Contracts: five rungs, first match wins.

Yes, on the list of the month they left and not one month further. Lessons that were taught pay regardless of whether the teacher still works here, and a closed month stays frozen together with their row. The narrowing touches candidates of an open month only, so an open monthly-fee contract of an archived person no longer drags their amount into every following month.

By default the list holds whoever there is something to count for: who had lessons that were not cancelled, who has a contract covering the month, who is marked as teaching, and who already has a closed row. Everyone else appears on the second track, “Whole team”, with zeros. The scope travels in the URL next to the month, so a jump by one month does not lose the person being looked at.

Prorated by days in force: eleven days out of thirty give 11/30 of the amount, and the line says “for 11 of 30 days of the month”. It counts days, not pieces - a person on a flat fee who taught no lesson at all that month still gets the full amount, because a flat fee pays for availability. Their lessons then enter at zero with a reason, so that nothing looks lost.

No. It answers the question “what is owed” and stops there: transfers, deductions, social contributions and tax are not here and will not enter this screen, only stand next to it. Tuition and student payments are Finance, because the money moves the other way. Lesson dates and who actually taught them are known by Groups - a settlement reads them and never corrects them.
